Microsoft Phishing Filter Feature in Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Live Toolbar Privacy Assessment Report – Updated July 28, 2006

Jefferson Wells, a professional services firm specializing in internal audits and technology audits, including privacy, has performed an update to the original privacy assessment based on a set of defined privacy assertions for the Microsoft Phishing Filter client and URS Reputation Web Service, Phish Detective service and Caution Logging. Upon review of the six assertions, Jefferson Wells found that all of the assertions were valid. This report was updated with newer versions of the Phishing Filter client that included additional features including Phish Detective delivered with the Windows Live Toolbar OneCare Advisor component and Caution Logging to help improve the Phishing Filter service and reduce false warnings. Additionally, the update included IP Address in Assertion 2 related to the ability to trace URL information back to the user.
